چکیده

For a single-component perfect gas, entropy perturbations are associated with the difference between overall density fluctuation and that coming from acoustic perturbation. Entropy can generate sound when accelerated/decelerated by non-uniform flow this is highly relevant to thermoacoustic instabilities for gas turbines rocket engines, noise emission aero-engines. Widely used theories model entropy-generated rely on quasi-1D assumptions which questions of validity were raised recently both numerical experimental studies. In present work, we build upon an analogy theory problem. This was initiated Morfey (J. Comparisons against simulations previous performed validate results.

Sound Generated by a Pair of Axisymmetric Coaxial Vortex Rings

The time-dependent acoustic field generated by the mutual interaction of a pair of coaxial viscous vortex rings advecting along a common axis of symmetry is simulated using a two-step numerical procedure. In the first step, the flowfield is predicted by solving the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. In the second step, Powell’s vortex sound theory is used to predict the far-field acoustic ...

A model of the sound generated by breaking waves

The sound produced from a single bubble, oscillating atits breathing mode frequency, and the bubble size distribution are used to model the sound produced by breaking waves. The data of Medwin and Daniel [$. Acoust. Soc. Am. 88, 408-412 ( 1990} ] is used to evaluate the performance ofthe model. The model generates a damped sinusoidal pulse for every bubble formed, as calculated from the bubble ...

Viscoelastic Flow in Axisymmetric Contractions: the Effect of Contraction Ratio

Numerical simulations of PTT fluids in axisymmetric sudden contractions were carried out to investigate the effect of contraction ratio on the flow patterns under conditions of negligible inertia. The PTT model selected has a linear stress coefficient, and contraction ratios (CR) in the range 4:1 to 100:1 were investigated. The simulations are based on a finite volume methodology using very fin...

Computational Prediction of Flow-Generated Sound

This article provides a critical review of computational techniques for flow-noise prediction and the underlying theories. Hybrid approaches, in which the turbulent noise source field is computed and/or modeled separately from the far-field calculation, are afforded particular attention. Numerical methods and modern flow simulation techniques are discussed in terms of their suitability and accu...

Blood flow through an axisymmetric stenosis.

This paper studies a steady axisymmetric flow in a constricted rigid tube. A shear-thinning fluid modelling the deformation-dependent viscosity of the blood is proposed. The motion equation is written in vorticity-streamfunction formulation and is solved numerically by a finite difference scheme. The flow pattern with the distributions of pressure and shear stress at the wall are computed. The ...
